About The iPhone 5

iPhone 5 thinner
iPhone 5 is the latest version of the Apple's iPhone. The iPhone 5 is a touchscreen-based smartphone developed by Apple Inc, the sixth generation of the iPhone. It was announced on September 12, 2012, and was released on September 21. The iPhone 5 is special as it is said to be Steve Job’s most ambitious project.

iPhone 5 Features

The iPhone 5 Display

iPhone 5 Back And Font View
iPhone 5 will use new technology that results in a display that is much thinner than the iPhone's current screen. Apple is using a technology that integrates touch sensors into the LCD. This will make it thinner and negate the use of another touch-screen layer. It has a larger 4-inch screen and the battery has also been spruced up to keep up with the new screen size. It is the first iPhone that supports LTE or has a screen with a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

The display is 1,136 × 640 pixels with an aspect ratio of almost exactly 16:9. With a diagonal of 4" it has a display size of 1.96 square inches, compared to 1.94 in iPhone 4 and 4S.

So, this would make the device overall sleeker and also enhance the viewing quality.

Dock Connector

A dock connector is a connector used to attach a mobile electronic device simultaneously to multiple external resources. The dock connector will typically carry a variety of signals and power, through a single connector, to simplify the process of docking the mobile device. The iPhone 5 will also infuse a new smaller eight-pin dock connector

The iPhone 5 uses iOS 6

The 5 uses iOS 6, which was released on September 19, 2012. It can act as a hotspot, sharing its internet connection over WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB, and also accesses the App Store, a digital application distribution platform for iOS developed and maintained by Apple. The service allows users to browse and download applications from the iTunes Store that were developed with Xcode and the iOS SDK and were published through Apple.

The iPhone 5 can play music, movies, television shows, ebooks, audiobooks, and podcasts and can sort its media library by songs, artists, albums, videos, playlists, genres, composers, podcasts, audiobooks, and compilations. Options are always presented alphabetically, except in playlists, which retain their order from iTunes. The iPhone uses a large font that allows users plenty of room to touch their selection. Users can rotate their device horizontally to landscape mode to access Cover Flow. Like on iTunes, this feature shows the different album covers in a scroll-through photo library. Scrolling is achieved by swiping a finger across the screen. Alternatively, headset controls can be used to pause, play, skip, and repeat tracks. On the 5, the volume can be changed with the included Apple Earphones, and the Voice Control feature can be used to identify a track, play songs in a playlist or by a specific artist, or create a Genius playlist.

The iPhone 5 features an improved system on chip (SOC), called the Apple A6, which Apple says achieves twice the performance of the A5.

The iPhone 5's operating memory (LPDDR2-1066 eDRAM) was doubled, from 512 MB to 1 GB. Storage capacities available are fixed at 16, 32 or 64 GB, the same as as the 4S; plug-in expansion memory is not supported.

The iPhone 5 Support for LTE

AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will offer LTE access in the US, while in the UK, only Everything Everywhere (EE) will be able to offer LTE access. All carriers in Canada selling the iPhone 5 have their own LTE networks which include Rogers Wireless, Fido Solutions, Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile Canada and Telus Mobility. The only carrier with no LTE network is Koodo however testing of its prospective network is currently underway.
